Can I substitute whole cranberry sauce for the fresh or frozen cranberries?

Made this delicious recipe last night for dinner and hubby loved it. I've been to this restaurant many times and the squash was always a dish we looked forward to. Definitely a repeat at our house. Next time, I might reduce the sugar a little bit, but otherwise would not make any changes.

I used cream of onion soup instead of mushroom, yum!
